Description
A delicious warm pudding made with apples and dates, served with toffee sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- to taste Toffee sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, combine the chopped apples with a sprinkle of cinnamon and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and eggs until well combined. Add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold the chopped apples and dates into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the pudding is baking, prepare your toffee sauce if making it from scratch. Alternatively, heat store-bought toffee sauce until warm.
- Once the pudding is done, let it cool for a few minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm, drizzled with toffee sauce.
Notes
- This pudding is best served warm.
- For a richer flavor, consider adding chopped nuts to the batter.
