Key Ingredients for Air Fryer Cookies

Creating the perfect air fryer cookies is like crafting a delightful story, with each ingredient playing a lead role in creating a memorable treat. Let’s dive into the essential ingredients that will elevate your baking experience and leave your taste buds dancing with delight.

Butter

For a rich and creamy flavor, I always reach for unsalted butter. It gives your cookies that melt-in-your-mouth texture while allowing you to control the saltiness to your taste. Be sure to soften it before mixing; this step ensures even incorporation into the dough!

Sugar

I love the dynamic Duo of granulated sugar and brown sugar. Granulated sugar adds sweetness and crunch, while brown sugar introduces moisture and that lovely caramel note that makes cookies irresistible. The combination gives your air fryer cookies a balanced taste that you won’t forget!

Eggs

One egg is all you need for this recipe! Its binding properties help hold the cookie dough together, ensuring that every bite is chewy and satisfying. Don’t skip this ingredient; it’s crucial for that perfect texture.

Flour

All-purpose flour is your best friend in this recipe. It provides structure and stability to your cookies, making them soft yet sturdy. If you need a gluten-free option, you could use a 1:1 gluten-free flour substitute.

Baking Soda

This ingredient is essential for that perfect lift. Baking soda helps your cookies rise while adding just the right amount of softness. Remember to measure it accurately for the best results!

Arm yourself with these key ingredients, and you’ll be well on your way to baking those delightful air fryer cookies that everyone will love!

Cooking Tips and Notes for Air Fryer Cookies

Crafting air fryer cookies can be a delightful experience, bringing warmth and sweetness into your home. To ensure your cookie game is on point, consider these essential tips and insights.

Use parchment paper: Lining your air fryer basket with parchment paper can prevent the cookies from sticking and make cleanup a breeze. Just make sure to cut it to fit, allowing for good airflow around your cookies.

Mind your temperature: Every air fryer can vary slightly in temperature. If your first batch comes out overdone, try reducing the temperature by 25°F for subsequent batches. Aim for that perfect golden-brown finish without compromising the chewy texture.

Don’t overcrowd the basket: Giving your air fryer cookies enough space ensures they cook evenly. Try not to bake more than three to six cookies at a time, depending on their size. This allows hot air to circulate freely and results in an evenly baked treat.

Experiment with flavors: Feel free to spice up your cookies! Add chocolate chips, nuts, or even a dash of sea salt to elevate the flavors. Each tweak can lead to a fun new batch that’s uniquely yours.

Test for doneness: Because air fryers cook quickly, check your cookies a minute or two before the suggested cooking time. They may look soft when you open the basket, but they’ll firm up as they cool.

With these tips, your air fryer cookies will be a crowd-pleaser in no time!

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla powder (optional)
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups flour, plain / all purpose
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • scant 2 cups chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bar

Instructions

  1. Measure the softened butter and sugars into your mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Beat together, scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl, until creamy.
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat together until the eggs are incorporated. Use a spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed.
  3. Mix in the flour, baking powder, soda and salt until the dough comes together.
  4. Add 2/3 of the chocolate chips and beat them into the cookie dough. Chill for 30 mins – 1 hour or overnight.
  5. Line the air fryer with baking liner or parchment paper. Form 4 balls of cookie dough (approx. 2 tbsp each) and place into the air fryer basket, spaced apart. Add extra chocolate chips (or chocolate chunks) on top of the cookie dough.
  6. Air Fry for 10 minutes at 160C (325F) or until the cookies start coloring at the edges. The cookies will still be quite soft and doughy at this stage.
  7. Take the basket out of the Air Fryer and leave the cookies in the basket for five minutes before carefully transferring onto a wire rack to cool. Store in an airtight container.
  8. Repeat with the remaining batter or keep it in the fridge for another day. Alternatively freeze the cookies on a tray prior to baking and cook straight from frozen, adding a couple of minutes to the cooking time.

Notes

  • These cookies may feel soft when you first take them out, but they will firm up as they cool.
